Doctors in Korea recently published a study on an experimental hair transplant procedure where they harvested hair grafts from one person and transplanted them into another.

The two female participants were sisters who had been involved in a previous bone marrow transplant. One of the sisters had leukemia and at the age of 14 had been donor matched with her sister who had donated bone marrow to her.
The leukemia had gone into remission, but at age 21 the bone marrow recipient had lost a lot of her hair due to chemotherapy drugs. Since the sisters were already tissue-matched for compatibility, the doctors wanted to see if they could transplant hair follicles from the one sister to the other.
Le due donne partecipanti erano 2 sorelle coinvolte precedentemente in un trapianto di midollo osseo. Una di questa sorelle ha avuto la leucemia all'età di 14 anni e l'altra sorella le ha donato il midollo compatibile.

The doctors first created a small clinical trial with 20 hair follicles and monitored the results by evaluating the growth at 6 months and again at 18 months.
I dottori hanno effettuato un primo pre test con soli 20 capelli monitorando i risultati a 6 e a 19 mesi.
Twenty hair grafts were removed from the back of the donor’s scalp and were transplanted into the patient’s nape of the neck. In the exact reverse of this, 20 hair grafts were removed from the back of the patient’s scalp and transplanted to the nape of her sister’s neck, the donor.
20 graft sono state rimosse dalla donor di ciascuna delle due sorelle e trapiantate vicendevolmente alla base del collo delle due donne.
No immunosuppressive drugs were used - Immunosuppressive drugs are usually needed in organ transplants to prevent the immune system from attacking the foreign cells that have been transplanted into the donor.
The results were very encouraging. After 6 months the doctors found that 12 of the 20 hair grafts that had been transplanted to the patient’s nape had survived and were still growing. After 18th months however, only 7 grafts remained.
Non sono state utilizzate medicine immunosoppressive. Queste sono solitamente necessarie nel trapianto di organi per prevenire l'attacco del sistema immunitario del ricevente nei confronti delle cellule estranee provenienti dal donatore.
I risultati sono stati particolarmente incoraggioranti. Dopo 6 mesi 12 dei 20 capelli trapiantati erano sopravvissuti continuando a crescere. Dopo 18 mesi tuttavia ne erano rimasti solo 7.
In her sister the results were a lot different. After 6 months only 2 hair grafts out of the 20 that were transplanted from the leukemia patient to the healthy sister had survived.
Nell'altra sorella i risultati erano molto diversi. Dopo 6 mesi solo 2 dei 20 capelli trapiantati dalla sorella leucemica a quella sana erano sopravvissuti.
The doctors suspected that a small difference in the compatibility of the antigens (immune system triggers) might play an important role in rejecting person-to-person transplanted hair follicles and the different tolerances of the respective girl’s immune systems caused the significant differences in the survival rate of their transplanted hair follicles.
I dottori ritengono che una piccola differenza nella compatibilità degli antigeni (stimolatori del sistema immunitario) abbia potuto giocare un ruolo importante nel rigetto dei follicoli trapiantati tra persone diverse e che la differente tolleranza dei rispettivi sistemi immunitari abbia causato una significativa differenza nel tasso di sopravvivenza dei follicoli innestati.
Statically speaking, the donor’s hair grafts that were transplanted to the patient showed a survival rate of 60% at 6 months and 35% at 18 months. On the other hand, the patient’s hair grafts that were transplanted to her donor sister’s neck showed a survival rate of only 10% at 6 months and 0% at 18 month.
Dal punto di vista statistico le graft trapiantate hanno mostrato un tasso di sopravvivenza del 60% a 6 mesi e del 35% a 18 mesi per le graft dalla sorella sana quella leucemica e del 10% a 6 mesi e 0% a 18 mesi per le graft della leucemica ricevute dalla sorella sana.
Following the success of the small test procedure, 2,200 hair grafts were then harvested from the donor’s sister and were transplanted to the patient’s scalp. Most of the transplanted hair grafts survived, and the patient acquired a significant clinical improvement at 18 months after the hair transplantation surgery.
Visto il successo del pre test 2200 graft prelevate dalla donor della sorella sana sono state innestate nella zona ricevente della sorella leucemica. La maggior parte di queste graft è sopravvissuto e la paziente ha avuto un significativo miglioramento estetico dopo 18 mesi dal trapianto
We believe this is only the second time it has ever been done. The first reported case was done by doctors at Ferrara University, Ferrara, Italy in 1999.
crediamo sia solo il secondo esperimento di questo tipo. Il primo fu effettuato a Ferrara nel 1999 presso l'università di quella città.

in poche parole hanno preso due sorelle che da piccole una aveva donato il midollo osseo all altra che aveva la leucemia in poche parole hanno preso due soggetti compatibili se prendevano due gemelle facevano prima.....cmq hanno trapiantato questo piccolo numero di uf e hanno scoperto cosa che si sa da sempre cioe che senza i farmaci immunodepressivi qualsiasi trapianto è rigettato....infatti la percenuale di ricrescita è stata na schifezza. . -

ragazzi, in teoria se uno prendesse farmaci anti-rigetto a vita, pur indebolendo notevolmente il suo sistema difensivo, potrebbe ricevere un trapianto di capelli da una persona diversa e mantenere i risultati, giusto? . -

ragazzi tutto quel che riguarda la ricerca è utile. E' solo attraverso degli esperimenti che si arriva a conclusioni magari diversissime dagli obiettivi di partenza. La scoperta della penicillina avvenne per puro caso ad esempio.
Utilissimo invece questo esperimento. Alla fine il miglioramento c'è stato. E da una speranza in più a chi ha perso i capelli dopo cure devastanti come quelle..
